The Guardian and ONS data reveals a total of 45,748 deaths involving Covid-19 had been registered in England and Wales as of 29 May, Saffron Cordery, Deputy Chief Executive of NHS Providers, warns that while a public enquiry is needed into the cause of excess deaths, it must not turn into a damaging, divisive and misleading blame game.
