Integrated Care Systems and patient safety

42 ICSs in England are set to become new statutory bodies from July 2022, marking a significant shift in how health and care services are planned and delivered towards a model of joined-up partnership working and coordination. In this session the panellists will discuss the opportunities and challenges for improving patient safety and the need to embed patient safety in the culture, leadership and new governance structures. The development of Integrated care systems provides an opportunity to ensure a patient safety culture is at the centre of the organisation. The session will explore what has been learnt from approaches to patient safety and what needs to be .created to give patients, carers and populations more confidence in health care.
