The NHS needs another 6,000 GPs but these will not be recruited or trained overnight. Workflow solutions modernise patient interaction but do not increase capacity. There is rising inequality of access to good healthcare, particularly in coastal, rural or areas of industrial legacy. Despite the attractions of such areas, doctors cannot be forced to move their families there. But using public health data and the latest technology it is possible bring doctors from areas of capacity to the locations of greatest need.
