Resilience in Care Homes

Kathryn will deliver a session on The Care Quality Commission’s Proposals For Flexible And Responsive Regulation.

Sophia will then focus on legal services she can offer residents, or prospective residents of care homes to reduce the risk that they find themselves unable to pay their fees, due to mental incapacity and/or poor financial planning.

The presentation will cover:

  • the practical issues arising from loss of mental capacity and poor financial planning of residents, how this might impact on the care home as a business and ways in which it can be combatted
  • Dealing with attorneys in practice. Understanding the powers that attorneys have and taking steps to make sure that staff members are not accepting instructions from an attorney acting outside of their powers
  • guidance around the approach CQC takes to enforcement
  • an update on the CQC’s approach to regulation ‘post’ Covid.
