Associate Director, NICE
Deborah O’Callaghan is an Associate Director at the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). Deborah leads the NICE Field Team covering the Midlands and East of England, working with system partners across health, public health and social care to embed the use of NICE guidance to achieve high quality care and improvement in health and wellbeing. In addition, Deborah is the Sector Lead for Public Health and leads the cross institute health inequalities programme focused on ensuring that NICE provides the best support to enable the health and care system to reduce health inequalities. The programme includes work to embed a strengthened, systematic approach to consideration of health inequalities in guidance production and ensuring NICE focuses its efforts to support the health and care system to reduce health inequalities, where it will have the highest impact. Deborah is a member of several national and regional networks and collaborations including membership of the East Midlands ARC; Keele Deal Health: Evidence based service transformation; and the National Health Inequalities Improvement Network. She also contributes to various expert advisory groups focusing on health inequalities issues such as public involvement in innovative health technology development; implementation of the CORE20Plus5 approach; and inequalities in patient safety.
